Jorge Salamero Sanz: New ebox-radius module available

Since I came back from Dublin I had pending to release the new ebox-radius module. This new module for eBox Platform 1.2 brings integration of eBox LDAP users with FreeRADIUS allowing the deployment of WPA/WPA2 EAP wireless authentication using eBox. In fact is very simple as seen on the screenshot, you can choose whether all the users are able authenticate or just a group of them and the NAS clients that can query the RADIUS server.

ebox-radius

This module is still in beta, but packages for Hardy are available from my PPA so you can try it in your eBox 1.2, a version for eBox 1.3 will be released very soon. FreeRADIUS packages where self builded because of #266299, I hope this can be fixed very soon, see Debian, EAP, and the OpenSSL and GPL incompatibility. If you give it a try, please give us feedback on the forum or the mailing lists.

Jorge Salamero Sanz: New jabberd2 packages, the Debian XMPP team blooms

I ve just uploaded new gsasl, jabberd2 and jabber-muc packages to ftp-master. This is the first release since we moved to git for packging and means a big step for the new Debian XMPP team. I hope this way we can welcome more developers to join the team and improve the Jabber/XMPP status in Debian. This work has been sponsored by my employer in order to improve the jabber module of eBox Platform. BTW, we ll try to release not only Ubuntu packages but also Debian very soon :-).

Evan Prodromou: 12 Messidor CCXV

Long fun weekend here. Last Thursday, Maj's brother Brian appeared on our doorstep unexpectedly. He'd been driving across the country from Santa Barbara for a few weeks, stopping to see friends and go camping and rock climbing along the way. Every few days he'd call our home number to tell us when he'd be coming in... but our home phone has had mixed-up wiring since our move on June 1. So his arrival was a really pleasant surprise. That night we went out to dinner at Ouzeri, the upscale Greek restaurant around the corner. We had been trying to connect with Matt Biddulph and Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino, who are visiting Montreal for a month. Matt and I were introduced at South by Southwest by connector Ben Cerveny, and Maj and Alex met separately and serendipitously at Montreal Pecha Kucha. So we did a big dinner at Ouzeri to talk and have fun. Boris Anthony came along, which made for a really great time. We had a lot of good wines at Ouzeri -- they have the best-known Greek wine cellar in town. We started off with an Ayiotiriki white (in a cool bottle), then a Naoussa, then a Rapsani. All very tasty. Dinner was a mix of appetizers, moussaka, and a big grilled shrimp platter. Boris got a nice-looking slice of lamb, too. Oh, and we got Ouzeri's trademark saganaki: a big raw cheese, doused with ouzo and cooked flamb at the table. Amita June doesn't like sitting at the table too much, so we took a walk outside so she could burn off some energy. A little bored, I twittered about where we were. Within 20 minutes, both Hugh and Niko cruised in to join us. Power of the Internet, dot dot dot. We finished dinner and decided to take the talk on the road. Everyone came over to our house at 4690 rue Pontiac and we... uh... opened another bottle of wine and hung out and talked for a couple of hours. By the time the bars were open and active on Mont-Royal, everyone streamed out and Maj and I put Amita to sleep. Good time! tags:

Miriam Ruiz: Newer packages for Gnash

I’ve just built a newer version of Gnash for Debian, which I want to push into experimental. I’ve created some binary packages for i386, powerpc (thanks, nueces), and amd64 (thanks, bencer), precompiled for sid, so that people might test them while the package waits in the NEW queue. You can also download the source package, but it might make more sense to create the latest one, getting Gnash from their CVS server, and the package building system from our subversion server: svn co svn://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-flash/packages/gnash/trunk/ latest-gnash
cd latest-gnash
fakeroot debian/rules get-orig-source
cd gnash-0.8.0+cvs*.????
dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot

Jorge Salamero Sanz: This blog is now colorized !

After some comments on this post by Javier Candeira I've read more carefully Coloriuris license and I've revoked the license because I've some doubts that I should clear before anything. Also some statement are not as accurate as should be. I should not post anything when I've to study. Quick posts can be very dangerous :-/. Also I've closed comments because I've noticed that spam was hitting my blog. Sorry, I hope to fix this after exams. ... and I'm not talking about colors. Coloriuris is an organization that provides free licenses with the same spirit of Creative Commons. This well-known licenses are only applicable in the Common Law, countries like Spain, Portugal and the whole Latin America are based on the Roman Law where Coloriuris licenses should be used instead CC. For this blog I've choosen Coloriuris blue which allows comercial use and derivated works keeping the same license.

Jorge Salamero Sanz: Blog Voyage

Blog Voyage is a game begun by bashflyng with the following rules: you have to travel along the world and along the blogs. You choose a place: a city, a town, a building, a river, a mountain ... The only clue is a picture of the place from Google Earth. The first person to guess the answer gets to choose the following voyage in his blog. This is the current roadmap: Well, here we go: blog voyage UPDATE: george wins. It's New Zealand, the Mount Ruapehu.

Jorge Salamero Sanz: Gluz 2 almost finished !

Last friday we masterized last iso images of Gluz 2, the GNU/Linux distro of the University of Zaragoza. This morning I've been testing them out and look ok. Just a couple of stupid bugs, so I hope to make the oficial release tomorrow in the morning. It's based on Kubuntu dapper, with some customized apps: ubiquity and an auto-configurator for the KDE PIM in order to use the University mail, jabber and wireless network. You can download *only today* the beta images from my home in pulsar. And of course some screenshots here. Enjoy !

Jorge Salamero Sanz: Nokia770 and beers

Nokia770 and beers Sometimes you can have good nights like last thursday: a pub with free Internet connection, free software (as in freedom) and free beer (yes, as free beer is). With my friend Jaime we are working in some nice apps for the Nokia770 running Maemo. We have setup a debian repository with ported apps and a svn repository. I dislike the way that applications are been ported to Maemo because many people just put dotdebs that you can install, but you can't notice updates, you can't get source code and so on. Also most of the repositories don't follow the Debian way: dist/section and you end with a very dirt mixture. I'll try to keep the repository and the packages as clean as posible.

Jorge Salamero Sanz: Put tango in your life

I began listening tango with Gotan Project, a recomendation of my friend bashflyng. With them I met Astor Piazzolla and since then I usually enjoy listening tango. Yesterday Jos Antonio Chic blogged about his surprise on listening Adios Nonino on a commercial music radio. Today I leave you here this great masterpiece, because tango is not just about dancing.

Jorge Salamero Sanz: Hello Debian Planet!

This is my first post in Debian Planet. Last sunday I was asigned an AM, zobel. He's a very helpful guy. It was a great birthday gift because I didn't expect to get an AM so fast, NM is know for being a long process. I've begun to work in the first steps of P&P questions already although I'm not going as fast I'd like because I've hitten by tons of TODO tasks just after finishing exams but I hope to get more involved in the Debian community and development quickly.
